Large bag = 5” x 10” x 2”
Style B is a simple flat bag, perfect for keeping things organized within a larger bag.
Small bag = 4” x 7”
Large bag = 5” x 9”
Style C has a gusseted bottom that can stand on its own,
making it a great choice for holding makeup or sewing essentials.
Small bag = 8” x 7” x 2½”
Large bag = 9½” x 9” x 3”
This 20 page pdf pattern includes full-color photographs detailing every step of the process, including ideas for adding patchwork details to each of the bags.
Small bag styles use 7" zippers. Large bag styles use 9" zippers. (Longer zippers may be cut to size.) The pattern describes several strap variations using d-rings, split rings, swivel clasps, or no hardware at all.
Bag exteriors can be made from sturdy woven fabrics like quilting cotton, home-décor weight cotton, linen and linen blends, corduroy, denim, dupioni silk, velveteen, or wool suiting.
Bag lining can be made from mid-weight quilting cotton, or lighter cottons like lawn or voile.
Fabric interlining is used to add structure to the bags. Interlining can be made from 100% cotton drill cloth, twill, denim, or cotton duck for crisp zip bags, flannel for soft and flexible bags, and low-loft batting or fusible fleece for quilty bags.
Lightweight fusible interfacing is optional, but recommended for lighter fabrics.
This pattern is ideally suited to using scraps. However, if you plan to buy new fabric, bag Styles A and B can be made with 1/4 yard or less each of exterior bag fabric, lining fabric, and interlining fabric. Bag Style C can be made with 3/8 yard or less of each type of fabric.
This pattern is intended for home sewing/non-commercial use.
